The first day back always seems like the most important one which for most of us consists of standing in front of all our clothes for a ridiculous amount of time contemplating what to wear, or more importantly what not to wear.
Instead of making this mistake again, I thought I'd plan ahead and decide a few days in advance.

The adorable cat dress paired with a simple blouse, gives a smart look with a hint of playfulness, which I thought would be perfect for the first day back. I bought this dress around this time last year and have pretty much worn it to death since. The neutral blouse was a purchase from a couple years back from good old trusty Primark. I find that adding a blouse, whether it be long sleeved or short sleeved with the collar done up to a dress this style creates a feminine geek-chic inspired look.
I decided to add a leather jacket to complete the look (but let's be honest, it's actually a necessity in the typical British weather). The quilted detailing featured on the jacket enables the outfit to remain quite formal.
Of course little Rhubarb wanted to be part of all the fun (think the dress might have done it for her).
